Make your personal comfortable baby blocks in underneath an hour with a Cricut Maker! Quick and simple to make, and a great gift for any new mother!

Earlier this week I shared a publish on easy methods to cut cloth with a Cricut Maker, and I used my Maker to chop squares out of some pretty floral materials. Today I'm going to turn you what I made with those squares: lovable do-it-yourself cushy baby blocks for our baby lady!

Pin this submit!

I in reality love the usage of my Cricut Maker to cut cloth! The rotary blade is significantly superb, reducing as it rolls just like a typical hand-held rotary cutter, excluding it's approach smaller and machine-controlled, so it's far more precise. It can turn within 1 / 4 of an inch to chop through loads of different fabrics, which allows you to minimize intricate shapes and patterns with accuracy that you'll't get with scissors.

It may even minimize multiple layers at the identical time, which is great in case you're making multiples of the similar trend, or if you wish to fold your cloth and minimize it out at the fold.

All you must do is choose from hundreds of sewing patterns within the Cricut library (including Simplicity patterns and Riley Blake Designs patterns), then flawlessly mark your cloth and cut it along with your Cricut Maker. And you get to do the joys part: sewing!

How To Make Your Own Soft Baby Blocks With A Cricut Maker

This is the development in Design Space that I used for this undertaking. It makes four comfortable baby blocks with letters and numbers on each side of the cubes.

Time spent doing stuff: 45 minutesTime spent waiting round: 10 minsTotal venture time: 55 minutes

Tools & Equipment

Instructions

Start by opening up the project in Design Space. Click the golf green Make It button to send the development in your mechanical device.

On the Prepare Mats screen, be sure that the mat containing the letters and numbers is reflected (toggle the "Mirror" transfer on) as a result of you'll be chopping that mat out of iron-on, and iron-on all the time must be reflected before chopping. All the other mats are material, which typically also want to be mirrored, but because the cuts are completely sq. on this trend, it's nice to leave the Mirror transfer turned off for the material mats.

Once the mats are able, click the golf green Continue button to send the development to your machine. Make positive the material is set to "iron-on" for the mat with letters and numbers, and set to "cotton" for all of the different mats. Then Design Space will stroll you in the course of the slicing part, simply observe the on-screen instructions.

You'll wish to transfer to the rotary blade and upload the washable material pen within the accent clamp earlier than reducing the fabric mats. You can see more details about methods to reduce fabric with a Cricut Maker on this put up.

Once the material and iron-on is all minimize, weed away the background iron-on vinyl (leaving the letters and numbers on the plastic backing) and then cut aside all of the different letters, numbers, and shapes.

For applying iron-on to cotton material, set your EasyPress 2 to 315 levels. Once it's heated, pre-heat the material for five seconds. Then place the letters and numbers on the cloth squares and press with the EasyPress 2 for 30 seconds.

Flip the material over and press again from the again for 15 seconds, then peel away the plastic backing from the vinyl whilst it's still heat to touch. Once your entire material squares have a letter, quantity, or form on them, you're in a position to start sewing!

Sew the squares into a pass shape with one arm that has two squares as a substitute of only one. This is the elemental starting form for each and every block.

Then fold the middle block in half diagonally (in the picture above, fold the "C" block diagonally), right aspects together, so that block "1" is on top of block "3" and block "2" is on best of block "B". Make 2 aspect seams of your dice by sewing alongside the perimeters of block 1+Three and a couple of+B (backside edge of three traces up with right edge of 1; left fringe of B strains up with top edge of two).

Open up the material and fold block C in part diagonally once more, the opposite method, and stitch up the opposite 2 aspect seams. (This time the left edge of block 1 traces up with the bottom edge of block 2, and the correct fringe of block B strains up with the highest edge of block 3.)

Once this is sewn you should have an open box with a floppy "lid" (block "A" in the photo above). Attach the lid to the box through stitching two edges of the lid to two sides of the field, leaving the 3rd seam open. Turn the field inside out through the open seam, then stuff it stuffed with batting.

When it's as full as you need it, whipstitch or ladder sew the hole closed by means of hand.

Repeat for the opposite three blocks and you're carried out!

Give them on your baby and let her enjoy! Or wrap them up as a gift for a brand new mother in your lifestyles.
